Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2026

Scripture Pop ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile app that helps you find video content related to Bible verses and topics. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Anonymous account

When you first open the app, we create an anonymous account for you using Firebase Authentication. This account is identified by a randomly generated ID — we do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier to use the app.

Search activity

When you search, the app sends your search text and your anonymous ID to our server. The server uses that search text to query third-party video platforms (see "Third-party video sources" below) and returns matching results. We also store, tied to your anonymous ID, how many searches you've made and the date of your last search — this is only used to support app functionality (like an eventual free-tier limit) and isn't shared with anyone.

Information stored only on your device

Your saved video collections and your light/dark mode preference are stored locally on your device. This information is never sent to our servers and we have no access to it.

Third-party video sources

Scripture Pop doesn't host video content itself. Search results and video playback are provided by third-party platforms, each governed by their own privacy policy and terms:

We don't control what these platforms collect when you view their embedded content. We encourage you to review their policies if you have concerns.

Other external services

The "share a verse card" feature looks up verse text directly from a public, no-account-required Bible text API (bible-api.com) — only the verse reference (e.g. "Romans 8:28") is sent, nothing that identifies you. The "read in context" link opens Bible Gateway in your browser, subject to their own privacy policy.

Advertising and tracking

Scripture Pop does not show ads and does not use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.

In-app purchases

The app is currently entirely free. If a paid tier is introduced in the future, this policy will be updated first and purchases will be handled through the App Store or Google Play's standard payment systems — we don't collect or store payment card information ourselves.

Children's privacy

Scripture Pop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app doesn't collect names, emails, or other identifying information from anyone, there is no personal information to collect from a child in the first place.

Data retention and deletion

Since your account is anonymous and tied only to a device-generated ID, there's no login to "delete" in the traditional sense — uninstalling the app or clearing its data effectively ends that anonymous session. If you'd like data tied to a specific anonymous ID removed from our server, contact us using the information below and we'll take care of it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
